There is an age-old story for the storage admins as they embark on the dreaded hardware renewal every 3 to 5 years. The process is as follows: Buy a new array equal to or larger than the current array They rack, stack, cable, zone, and initialize this new array Start the arduous forklift migration of data from the old to the new Since its inception, Pure Storage has built their arrays to be modular and non-disruptive for both software-based upgrades as well as hardware-based upgrades.
